CPB will be launching Photo Kadai, a fun photo-activity day for families and the general public. The event will take place at Foley at Amethyst, Chennai on 19 Dec from 11 am to 6 pm.
During this one-day engagement, you will be able to experience the cyanotype printmaking process by working with your hands, with simple chemistry, sunlight, and tap water. Cyanotype allows anyone interested to express themselves in shades of blue. You will have the opportunity to use photographs and photograms using objects like feathers, leaves, and any other found object and explore how to create unique pieces of art with almost anything under the sun.
Photo Books and Photo Print Sale!
Visitors of all ages will be able to view and purchase a variety of photo books from across India that will be showcased at the venue.
Children’s Corner
There will also be a children’s activity corner, where kids of ages 3 and above will receive the CPB Children’s Activity book Peer, Ponder, Play! and engage with activities curated by mentors.
The student showcase titled This is Home will also be on display. CPB Prism held a series of photography workshops with children from Chennai and Delhi during the pandemic in an effort to revive the crumbled definition of home. The workshop explored the various meanings of home that have emerged since the start of quarantine and our developing relationship with home.
The exhibition explores a multitude of dialogues and discoveries through five perspectives: house, people, objects, neighbourhood and self. Through each of these perspectives, the participants construct a new narrative of home grounded on increasing familiarity with the new environment. During the CPB Photo Kadai, the audience will have to opportunity to get to know, interact and learn from a host of local participating artists and initiatives such as:
● Palak Rungta
● Tarun Koliyot
● Thin Black Brush
● The Kala Collective
● Sakthi M & Sathish Sitharthan
● Photo Booth by Studio A
